Tour Operator Site Tour Monday, January 26

TOUR OPERATORS ONLY - Our tour will begin with breakfast at the National Hispanic Cultural Center where we will be treated to a rare viewing of the Torreon Fresco. This fresco is the continuing work of Frederico Vigil who is a native of New Mexico and who is creating this historic piece using the ancient technique of “fresco”. The center houses a large collection of Hispanic Art from throughout New Mexico and Latin America. Our tour will continue onto the newly renovated Andaluz Hotel. Andaluz, formerly the La Posada Hotel, built in 1939 was the first hotel built by Conrad Hilton and is the only hotel in Albuquerque to be on the National Register of Historic Places. Our tour continues with a trip to Albuquerque’s Uptown shopping district for lunch at the Sheraton Uptown. Sheraton Uptown has recently completed a 20 million dollar renovation. Our tour ends at the International Balloon Museum located at Balloon Fiesta Park. The Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is the world's premiere facility dedicated to the art, culture, science, history, sport and spectacle of ballooning. |

#1) Shopping in Albuquerque
Depart - 8am Return - 2:30pm
8am - Begin this tour with an education on turquoise from Joe Dan Lowry, owner of the Turquoise Museum. With your new-found knowledge of what is “natural” and “authentic” you will have time to browse the many shops in Historic Old Town. Lunch will be provided at the Church Street Café where an artist will be demonstrating their talents. Then, head downtown to visit the shops and galleries along Route 66.
2:30pm - Return to the Hyatt Regency Downtown

#2) Cultural Tour of Albuquerque
Depart - 8am Return - 2:30pm
8am - The day begins with a tour of the National Hispanic Cultural Center where you will learn about New Mexico’s rich Hispanic culture through art and performance. The next stop will be the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where you will learn about the art and history of the Pueblo Peoples of New Mexico thru traditional ceremonies, dances and cooking demonstrations. Lunch will include samples of traditional Native foods. This tour ends in Historic Old Town.

#3) Culinary Tour – New Mexican Food and Spirits
Depart - 8am Return - 3:00pm
8am - What better way to experience Albuquerque than through their famous cuisine? Today begins at El Pinto for a cooking class on traditional New Mexican food. Then, we will visit a local winery for a wine tasting and finally, complete the tour at Kelly’s Brew Pub for a lesson in brewing beer.
3pm Return to the Hyatt Regency Downtown |
